A Car Chase in Gentilly…

Today three of us were out visiting homes in the neighborhood around Edgewater (we were at Paris and Filmore, actually) when we encountered a lot (no, really, a LOT) of the NOPD. It wasn’t a few- seriously- we saw at least six NOPD cruisers, several sheriff cars, and even a border patrol SUV. What was going on? Apparently a high-speed car chase that lasted over an hour. WGNO has a video on their site (currently the second story in the second news column of videos), and you can read the report from WWL and WDSU. It appears that FOX doesn’t want to cover the story right now. The police caught the two men involved in the chase- one of whom is suspected of being involved in several armed robberies, the other of whom escaped custody and was previously on trial for a hit and run murder of a seven year old back in 2005. Wonderful.
