My Personality…
August 22, 2007 | 4:28 PM
I just thought I’d post this, not really for any particular reason. Also, Alan Creech did it, and I decided to join the bandwagon. Here’s what they say about the INFJ folks:
INFJ - The “Confidant”
INFJs, making up an estimated 1% of all people, are the most rare type (males even more so). They are introspective, caring, sensitive, gentle and complex people that strive for peace and derive satisfaction from helping others. INFJs are highly intuitive, empathetic and dedicated listeners. These traits tend to act as a “tell me what’s wrong” sign on their forehead, hence the nicknames Confidant, Counselor or Empath. INFJs are intensely private and deeply committed to their beliefs.
“INFJs enjoy a greater clarity of perception of inner, unconscious processes than all but their INTJ cousins. Just as SP types commune with the object and “live in the here and now” of the physical world, INFJs readily grasp the hidden psychological stimuli behind the more observable dynamics of behavior and affect.” - INFJ Profile (TypeLogic)
“…desire to contribute to the welfare of others and genuinely enjoy helping their companions. Although Counsleors tend to be private, sensitive people, and are not generally visible leaders, they nevertheless work quite intensely with those close to them, quietly exerting their influence behind the scenes…” - The Portrait of the Counselor Idealist (Keirsey)
“INFJs tend to be devoted to what they believe in and seek work where their needs, values, and ideals can be deeply engaged. They move on the wave of their inspirations and are determined to see that their values are worked out in their lives. They will work toward their goals individually and, when needed, will put together a team of other highly dedicated people like themselves.” - INFJ - The Mystic (Lifexplore)
Famous INFJs: Adam Sandler, Billy Crystal, Goethe, Jamie Foxx, Martin Luther King, Jr., Martin Van Buren, Mel Gibson, Mother Teresa of Calcutta, Nelson Mandela, Oprah Winfrey, Tom Selleck
So you who know me, tell me, is this accurate?

Add one more “famous” person to your list of famous INFJs… ME.
Now doesn’t that do your heart good!
Hey… why are you running around the room screaming in terror…?

I’ll take it, Lu. We’re special.

We are. Oh, yes! We definitely are.
…but I, uh, have to revise my statement a little… I just took the test — I can’t resist this stuff. Anyone who knows me knows I’m fascinated with the MBTI. Don’t exactly know why. Just am. Anyway… I took the test and wouldn’t you know it… I wasn’t lyin’ on my M profile. Even though I kinda thought I was exaggerating. I really AM moving toward P. So much so that I showed up as INFP on the test — aka The Dreamer. Yep. That totally fits.
But really weird. Who knew you could become more flexible as you grow older…
I still say I’m an INFJ though… At least for now. I want to be in the special group with Joe!

I didn’t take the test this time around, but every time I have taken it before I come out ISTJ. That description usually matches me except for the part about having difficulty expressing emotions. I think everyone can agree that is not one of my characteristics. However, the other stuff for ISTJ matches me well as far as duty, responsibility, loyalty, etc.

I’d say that your profile fits you Joe.

Thanks, Rachel.
I’m pretty sure I’m borderline on most except intuitive. So I figure I could swing different ways depending on the test I take and my mood at the time. I try not to take these online things too seriously.

I was an INTP which is kind of funny since my father actually is an engineer and before my calling to ministry I was planning to be an architect. Funny, though. I could tell I took this on a Sunday. I usually score pretty evenly on the I/E scale slightly leaning to the I side, but tonight I was 68% on the I side which I guess means that I’ve been around a lot of people today and I’m finally glad to have a little time to myself.
