Alan Cross Visits…

Date August 7, 2007 | 2:53 AM

Today I met Alan Cross for the second time.  Last summer he dropped by New Orleans on a day trip, and I met him then.  Tonight, though, he came over and we spent about 2 and a half hours talking about life, missions, church, God, and… did I mention life?  Last night was a long night- I spent most of it thinking about my future and how I was going to make that future happen.  It goes without saying that God must approve, but I still have to work for it.  I got a little discouraged about things last night, and today I was brought back to reality by Alan.  It can happen, and I’m not alone.  I appreciate Alan most for his honesty, but also for his encouragement.  I really needed a talk like I had tonight.  And not over blogs, but face to face.  So anyway, he left about 10 minutes ago and I figured I should blog something about it.  Everybody go read Alan’s blog.  And thanks, Alan, for stopping by.

    Hey Joe-
I too appreciate Alan as he has been my pastor for 7 or 8 years now. He was traveling down to help my brother, Andrew Hicks, who will be at NOBTS for the next few years. I hope you guys can connect and I appreciate your bringing guys together to blog on the spiritual disciplines. Providentially, our young adult Sunday school class will be studying them as well.
    Grace and peace,
    Laura

Laura, I met Andrew and Brandi the other day when Alan was in town. They live across the street from me, actually.

And I’m glad we could blog together about something positive like the disciplines. It’s a nice healthy change.
