The Spiritual Disciplines: An Introduction…

Date July 17, 2007 | 12:00 AM

A bunch of us bloggers are getting together to blog through the spiritual disciplines. Each Tuesday some of us will discuss one of the disciplines from our particular angle. It’s pretty straightforward. Here’s the roster:

We’ve kind of taken Richard Foster’s list and mixed it with a little Whitney and Willard.  Hopefully it’ll come out well in the end.  The schedule goes like this:

  • July 17: The Introduction
  • July 24: Meditation
  • July 31: Prayer
  • August 7: Fasting
  • August 14: Study
  • August 21: Journaling
  • August 28: Simplicity
  • September 4: Silence
  • September 11: Solitude
  • September 18: Submission
  • September 25: Service
  • October 2: Confession
  • October 9: Worship
  • October 16: Guidance
  • October 23: Celebration
  • October 30: The Conclusion

At some point I’ll be good and compile all of the posts by discipline and put them on a static page for your reference. Enjoy!

I’m looking forward to the fasting article, I’ve never really been taught fasting.

This sounds great. I am really looking forward to it. Regarding prayer I would love to hear different takes on George Mueller’s guidelines for prayer. Especially his, “I seek to empty myself of my agenda.” (Paraphrase mine)
