Mom went in for her surgery today. I’m told everything went fine and she’s recovering at home.

[Original Post: June 5, 2007]: I’ve really thought hard about whether I should bring this up on my blog. Family is private, and I don’t like bringing them into the public eye. But here it is. Last Wednesday my mom went to the doctor as usual, and by that evening she was told to be in the office at 8AM to see the doctor again. They found a malignant cancer in her breast. The doctors scheduled an MRI for Monday (yesterday) and a lumpectomy for Wednesday. The surgery tomorrow is off because the MRI showed another suspicious something that’s not that close to the original mass. Tomorrow she’s going in for more tests and a biopsy, and it looks like bigger surgery is in store for her next week, depending on how these new tests go. Pray for her, please. And while you’re at it, pray for Steve’s wife.
