- I had this series planned out- it had to do with dignity, humanity, poverty, and wealth. It pulled heavily from Malcolm Gladwell’s The Tipping Point. I haven’t scrapped it, but I’m not actively working on it right now. I’ll get back to it sometime.
- I’ve been writing ideas down in my journal, but haven’t found the motivation to turn them into blog posts. I wrote “Jesus, our beast of burden” down, but now I don’t remember why. My guess is someone or something made me feel like we were abusing Jesus and turning him into some kind of tool. Not unlikely.
- For about a month I was a part of a new gathering in Uptown. I didn’t feel like it was right to continue with that project, so I returned to Edgewater. It was a wise decision.
- Today I went to the New Orleans Museum of Art to get a good look at the Katrina Exposed exhibit that comes down September 17th (Sunday). Some of the photos were incredible. Some weren’t. Then again, after three months maybe I’m just used to seeing it in real life so it’s not as spectacular. Some of the shots were absolutely incredible though. (I do wish I had submitted a few of my own to the museum.
- Tuesday night I’m going to the House of Blues to see Sufjan Stevens. A pretty large group of us are going, although separately. It should be a good show.
- I’m working on a three-person photography project to be unveiled at Edgewater around November 5th. I’m excited about it, and it’s the first project I’ve had since I got here that I can genuinely make my own.
- Oh, and one last thought. LSU travels to Auburn to play in what could quite possibly be the best game of the year (not just in the SEC, but in all of college football) tomorrow. Most of the people I’ve read are picking LSU. That’s fine by me. But we’ll know for sure after tomorrow.
