Back to Back to Back [And So on and So Forth]…

Date July 23, 2006 | 11:13 PM

My brother and his wife arrived in New Orleans Friday night to spend the weekend. This was on the heels of a long night and day that I mentioned in the previous post. Saturday, we spent 6 hours in the French Quarter, visiting the French Market, many small shops, the Riverwalk and its mall, and the Aquarium of the Americas. I always enjoy my visits to the Aquarium, and after Katrina all the fish had died so it was good to see it open again. I got to see a little “penguin porno” too, which was kind of cute. Nature. It poured on us as usual, and we got soaked getting back to the car. Saturday night we ate at Nacho Mama’s in Uptown. Thanks to Sarah for recommending it and Blaize for coming along with the four of us.

Last week in the midst of everything, my old friend Kyle emailed me to see if I could house him for his upcoming workshop at NOBTS. Of course I pulled out my best Donkey (Shrek) impression and said, “Ooh, ooh, pick me, pick me!” He was thankful. As far as I knew he was due in this Thursday or Friday.

The problem, of course, is that I came home to Mobile for the night and part of tomorrow to get my window fixed. If you don’t know why, go back and read about my Jack Bauer day in the previous post. Today Kyle called me to inform me that he was on his way to New Orleans and his class starts tomorrow. So I had to get Blaize to house him for the night, and possibly for the week. Good thing we’re all so nice, or I’d be in a lot of trouble. Actually, Kyle would be in a lot of trouble.

After Kyle leaves on Friday, Emily and LP are coming into town, so I expect to be somewhat occupied visiting with them a little bit during their workshops, and once they leave, I’ll be on the road to Fort Worth. All in all, it looks to be a very busy time. It should be exciting. Oh, and Tuesday is my birthday. Leave me a HAPPY message.

[Update]: So I get this call from an old friend of mine from seminary.  He tells me he’s got this wedding in Hawaii, and needs me to take him to the airport on August 9th and pick him up on the 16th.  Our airport in New Orleans.  His real announcement:  “I’m moving back!”  I’m excited.  The boys are coming back, one by one.
