Blogging Guidelines…
October 27, 2005 | 12:54 AM
I just had a lot typed up about this covenant I was going to make between you, the blogging world, my readers, and me, the author of this blog. I had the whole Biblical format outlined and explained, and was going to follow it.
Then I decided that was taking it a little too far. But I do want to offer some personal guidelines for blogging and commenting, as adapted from Marty Duren and Howie Luvzus. So here goes:
1. I want to live by faith, be known by love, and be the voice of hope. (Thanks, Erwin.) I want to lovingly portray my faith in Jesus of Nazareth as Christ, bringing hope to those whose hope is misplaced or nonexistant.
2. I recognize that this can only be achieved through me by the One who IS love, pouring it out through me. Therefore I desire to be wholly active in a true relationship with my Father in Heaven, Jesus who saved me, and the Spirit who guides me. Prayer and respect for the Word are to be shown even here, on this blog.
3. This blog should not promote me, rather, it should point to the One who gives me the words to speak and the heart to carry on.
4. This blog should never become stagnant. Even when I am away, I will seek godly replacements if or until I should return.
5. This blog should be an output for my creativity. I will continue to change its look, its feel, and its vibe, when I feel necessary.
6. I will try not to waste anybody’s time, but that’s really in your hands. If coming here is a waste of time to you, I’m sorry. This blog serves several purposes, among them a place for me to output thoughts or leave updates for close friends to know where I am and what I’m doing.
7. I will try not to have anything tasteless or crude on here. Although occasionally I miss something someone says and it stays here for a while. I’ll do what I can to keep it clean and respectful.
8. Engage in profitable dialogue with those who disagree with my views and with those who share my views. And maybe not throw out stereotyped labels. Things are rarely so black and white.
9. Attempt to provide a perspective that you don’t read anywhere else.
10. I’m going to break these guidelines. That’s why they’re guidelines and not rules. But at least I’ve defined them. And I’ll try to go by them. Even if you don’t.
11. Eventually I’ll need spot eleven. So here it is all reserved and waiting.
