Jesus Creed and Generous Orthodoxy…

I read Scot McKnight’s post on Generous Orthodoxy today. Actually, I skimmed it. Then I left it. Then I went back and skimmed it again. Then I left it. And finally, on my third shot, I actually read it. Unfortunately I’m one of those “inarticulate” people and I don’t understand or use big words. And I’m too lazy to pick up a dictionary (although I just bought the Evangelical Dictionary of Theology for my Systematic Theology 2 class). All that to say, I had to stop and really focus on reading his post. (I make it sound as if it’s deep and super-hard to read. It’s not.) I think you should read it. I think a lot of what he says is something that, to many of us, will make perfect sense. I do believe that, like Luther, Calvin, and Zwingli, God is raising up within us a desire to change the way we do things. And like those three reformers, many of us are coming to the same conclusions independently. This is evidence that God is among us even as I type. And even as traditional and current Western Christianity frustrates me, I know that God is here and He is my hope of glory.
