Seventh Ward…

For Exegeting the City, a class I have on Mondays from 8-3 (5 times a semester), we adopted the East side of the Seventh Ward. That’s Elysian Fields west a few blocks and from N. Claiborne north across the Interstates. We prayerwalked on Monday, and on Wednesday we got an email that said a man had been shot in the area my group had prayerwalked. Tuesday the man was shot on a corner that we had stood on. The Enemy is determined to keep Christ from these people. If it was meant to deter us from ministry, it is a failure. Saturday we’re going back out during the day to prayerwalk and minister to some people. Pray specifically for Curly, a guy we met Monday. I pray that the Sovereign Lord of all Creation would deliver us from evil and allow His Word to be revealed to these people tomorrow and throughout the semester. In the next few weeks, the Seventh Ward will be the center of an evangelism blitz coordinated by some big group- either BAGNO or NOBTS or some SBC group. I pray that God would use us and them together to demonstrate and proclaim the love of Jesus Christ and the surpassing love of the Christ on the Cross. The harvest is ripe. The workers are growing. May this be the time.
