Got some Christmas lists in for the family. Hooray. Last Thursday we were talking about our favorite Christmases in our community group. I couldn’t come up with anything cool. However, to prove that I did actually have Christmases in the past, I have compiled a list of some random memories that DO stand out. But before that, a short list of random thoughts.
Random Thoughts:
- I’m going to get a Yankee Candle that smells like Christmas or something tomorrow. I like candles. They make my room smell good.
- That new Pepsi stuff… Pepsi Holiday Spice… ya’ll this stuff is nasty. Really nasty.
- Auburn 21, Alabama 10. Auburn 11-0 (8-0 SEC). War Eagle!
- Sometimes ya just gotta take things for what they are, and then figure out how you’re gonna fix it.
Now on to the Christmas Memories:
- I remember in Long Beach we used to put up these candy cane looking things with one giant Christmas light on the top… remember those old bulbs? We’d line our driveway with them. It looked atrocious. Dad always said we looked like a lit-up barbershop.
- Back in Long Beach, I had this friend Ryan Serrato. His brother Tony had some medical issues and one day he got real sick. Well some stuff went down and he was pretty messed up. Some mental issues and he couldn’t leave his bed or wheelchair at all…. it was like he had to grow up all over again. I actually heard today that he’s still around, which is amazing, cuz they said he wouldn’t make it to 16 or so… and he’s my age. I’m 23. Amazing. Anyway, every Christmas a firetruck would drive through our neighborhood with Santa on top. They’d drive down our road to get to the Serrato’s, where Santa would come out and meet Tony and his family. That was always really really cool.
- Once we went Christmas carolling at First United Methodist in Long Beach. Mom said it was before Christmas eve, but I remember it so well. It was a real cool night.
- I remember the Christmas that Rick drove back to Hattiesburg from Mobile to be with his “friend” whose grandmother was real sick. He left on Christmas eve to go back. He married that girl who was his “friend”.
- I guess that’s all for now.
